WAYS TO GET INVOLVED

We thank you for being here today and encourage you to take the next step in helping immigrants. Educate yourself on the current immigration situation in the United States and get involved with the organizations listed to make a lasting impact.

How do I help immigrants?

There are many ways to get involved and help immigrants. First, it is important to educate yourself on this issue, which you are doing here today at the HT94 installation. Enclosed, you will find organizations, both local and afar, that you can reach out to in order to get involved.

KENTUCKY ORGANIZATIONS

Kentucky Refugee Ministries

• Non-profit dedicated to providing resettlement services and other community resources to refugees
• Involvement opportunities include volunteer positions, internships, and donations

Centro Latino

• Works for the inclusion of and access to education and healthcare for Spanish speakers in Central Kentucky
• Special need for bilingual volunteers

Adelante Hispanic Achievers

• Non-profit in Louisville, Kentucky devoted to empowering Hispanic and Latinx youth through academic mentoring and personal enrichment programs

La Casita Center

• Non-profit in Louisville, Kentucky that providesimmigrants legal support, education services, and advocacy
• Need for volunteers and donations

Neighbors Immigration Clinic

• Provides immigrants in Lexington, Eastern Kentucky, and Northern Kentucky low-cost legal services
• Seeking volunteers and donors

International Center of Kentucky

• Provides immigrants with job preparation classes, ESL classes, translation services, legal support, and transportation guidance
• Volunteer and internship opportunities

OTHER ORGANIZATIONS

The Florence Project

• Provides free legal and social services to detained adults and unaccompanied minors in Arizona facing deportation

• Opportunities for jobs, internships, and volunteer positions

Colibrí Center for Human Rights

• Works with families of disappeared migrants to identify and honor the individuals who have lost their lives while crossing the US-Mexico border
• Internship opportnities

Freedom For Immigrants

• Working to abolish immigration detention centers across the globe and trying to end the isolation of people currently in this system
